About the Journal
The creation of the Journal results from the ongoing efforts of the Safe Work Program, since its establishment in 2012, to create spaces for reflection and social dialogue on the topic of occupational health and safety. With this publication, the goal is to expand the reach of the Program, stimulating the promotion of studies and research on the causes and consequences of workplace accidents in Brazil, and related topics, in order to assist in diagnosing and developing actions for prevention and reducing the social, social security, labor, and economic costs arising from them.
The Journal was conceived by the Superior Council of Labor Justice, through its National Committee of the Occupational Accident Prevention Program, Safe Work Program – PTS, and established by Article 18 of Resolution CSJT No. 324, dated February 11, 2022. It is published annually, free of charge, and exclusively in digital format. Its guidelines and editorial coordination are defined in Ato CSJT.GP.SG No. 56, dated June 5, 2023. The Minister Coordinator of the Safe Work Program is responsible for the editing, publication, and dissemination, with the assistance of the Vice-Coordinator of the Program. The Editorial Board is chaired by the Minister Coordinator of the Safe Work Program, serving as the editor-in-chief, and is composed of the Vice-Coordinator Minister, National Managers, representatives from the five geographic regions of the country, and up to five other members with notable legal expertise.
It is in this context that we present to the community the “Journal of the Safe Work Program” with the firm intention of fostering academic and doctrinal production on occupational health and safety, through the publication of articles, studies, and regulations for promoting worker health, preventing workplace accidents, and strengthening the National Policy on Occupational Health and Safety – PNSST. We hope that, in addition to scholars of the topics addressed, the publication reaches the various segments of civil society involved in building a safe and healthy work environment, including public policy makers, workers, employers, and students.
